About Franci Janse van Vuuren

Franci Janse van Vuuren is affiliated with the University of Johannesburg as a manager of various academic development and support projects. Poetry and the art of using words in various written forms have always been part and parcel of her life, with snippets of stories and poetry lines often running through her head, finding their home in her heart. Franci and Carin’s creative collaboration began years ago when they met each other as language lecturers. She is married to Hannes, and they have one daughter, Annica.

About the illustrator

Carin de la Harpe is an artist, living in Hartbeespoort. Her love for drawing and painting came to life in her biology class in high school. She has been a full-time oil painter for the past twenty-five years. Franci’s request to illustrate her dream book was challenging, resulting in twenty-eight drawings, giving life to Annica and Andante on paper. She is married to Deon and has two sons, Marais and Jandré, a daughter-in-law, Ingrid, and a granddaughter, Hartley.
